After-School Chinese Language Program
ACES afternoon after-school program for kindergarten through 5th graders was first developed in 2004 when ACES obtained its first permanent location. The educational purpose of the After-School and Weekend Chinese Language programs is to help students learn the Chinese language, understand Chinese culture and tradition, and lay a solid foundation of Chinese for students’ future academic and career needs. With the combination of painstaking research and accumulated experience, we have completed a set of Chinese teachings and Enrichment courses for a variety of interests to create a unique, comprehensive, and engaging system with gratifying results. The After-School Program provides multiple after-school care, Chinese Language course, and Enrichment course options in order to fit every schedule and specific needs for each unique family. The semester ends with our exciting annual show and our poetry recitation contest. Chinese courses focus on Mandarin, Simplified Chinese and Pin-Yin, and use the Ma Liping textbook. Chinese courses include daily readings, where students read aloud classical Chinese stories. ACES admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin. We strive to encourage students to cherish Chinese culture and heritage, foster and enhance friendship among the Chinese-American community, and contribute to the mutual understanding and appreciation of Chinese and other cultures.
